About A Dare to Remember

What is A Dare to Remember?

A Dare to Remember is ...

A Dare to Remember is a nationwide challenge taking place from October 17-25, 2009. During one week, thousands of Canadians will undertake dares to raise money for HIV/AIDS in Africa through the Stephen Lewis Foundation. The idea is simple: choose a dare - it could be funny, sporty, healthy or bold - and then get others to sponsor you. You can also Dare your family and friends to do something challenging, and help them fundraise to meet their goal.

Questions about Dares

How do I Do a Dare? How do I set up my Dare page?

First, choose a Dare

Make it something that challenges you, something you've always wanted to do but for which you've never had enough time, courage, or motivation. Think about what your friends and family would donate to see you do! Click on Do A Dare and then follow the simple steps to set up your personal page. You can upload your own photo and edit the prepared text to describe your Dare in your own words. Be as funny and creative as you want.

How do I start fundraising?

How much money you want to raise?

Decide how much money you want to raise and set your fundraising goal. Quick tip - dare to aim high! We'll be there to help you with loads of tips and support in your fundraising. Use our online tools to tell your friends and family about your Dare using email, Facebook, and even Twitter! Get on the phone, put up posters at work, and distribute postcards (you'll find them in the Fundraising Tools section, or you can call us and we'll send you some!). Ask your friends, family and colleagues to dare you with their largest-possible donation. If you need help with fundraising ideas, or anything else, just give Juliet a call at 1-888-203-9990 x252 or email her at dare@stephenlewisfoundation.org

Can I Dare someone else?

Absolutely!

Just click on Dare a Friend. Think up a really good challenge; it's a great way to get the word out and raise more funds.

Can we do a group Dare?

Absolutely!

There are lots of great Dares to take on as a group… doing a dance-a-thon, organizing a basketball tournament, or setting up a games night. To register your group Dare, you can do one of two things:

Set up one fundraising page for the whole group, under the main organizer's name, by clicking Do a Dare and following the steps. You can then send out the URL link to everyone who's participating in the Dare, to share with their family and friends so they can all donate via this one page.

Have each participant set up their own fundraising page by clicking Do a Dare and following the steps. That way each person on the team can upload their own photo, set their own goal, and do their own fundraising. You can always give a prize to the person who raises the most!

If you have any questions about doing a group Dare, just give Juliet a call at 1-888-203-9990 x252 or email her at dare@stephenlewisfoundation.org
